The Design Milk Family Room Reveal + Get The Look

Approximately nine years ago … bc …  Jaime Derringer, founder of Design-Milk (and my friend) reached out, asking me to help her with her family room. I didn’t want to say ‘NO’ because 1.) She is great and I love her. 2.) It would get great press as it would be on her blog and, 3.) It’s just a room! How long could it possibly take?! HA. Well today, we finally have for you (almost one year later) the reveal of Jaime’s cozy, modern, and fresh family room. It took a while but we did it.

Let’s backup. About two weeks after she approached me I realized that I was simply far too busy to actually do this by myself, so Ginny and Mel (the lovely design team that used to work for me and are now on their own … hire them!) took over the execution. Read the full

Long & Narrow Living Room Design Ideas & Layouts

Long and narrow living room ideas are sometimes in short supply. It’s a layout that’s probably the trickiest of all, because of two big conundrums – how do you fit all of your furniture and accessories in so that it does everything you need, and how do you stop it from feeling claustrophobic and difficult to manoeuvre around? But just know that it is possible! These long and narrow living room ideas should help you rise to the challenge of this configuration so that it rivals more coveted rectangle living room designs.

Long & Narrow Living Room Layout Ideas

Define zones

Family Room Additions | Remodel-Partner

Remodel Partner, Inc. Custom Designed Illinois Family Room Additions

A Illinois Remodel Partner family room addiiton can be an informal, all-purpose room in a house similar to a living room. The family room is designed to be a place where family and guests gather for group recreation like talking, reading, watching TV, and other family activities. Often, the family room is located adjacent to the kitchen, and at times, flows into it with no visual breaks. A family room often has doors leading to the back yard and specific outdoor living areas such as a deck, garden, or terrace. The distinction between a family room, a living room, and a recreation room may be fluid. In homes with more than one, the living room is usually the more formal room, often reserved for guests, special occasions, and the display of items such as antiques or artwork. The recreation room is

Flipped’s Will Forte tells us what he hates in home decor

Illustration for article titled iFlipped’/is Will Forte tells us what he hates in home decor and if we’ll ever see iMacGruber/i again

Photo: Quibi

When Quibi launched earlier this week, it did so with several big-swing, big-money shows, including Flipped, an HGTV-infused comedy starring Will Forte, Kaitlin Olson, Arturo Castro, and more. As Jann, the show’s eccentric, self-absorbed protagonist, Forte once again plays the character you want to root for, but also would absolutely hate to be around. He’s not so much an antihero as a complete shithead, but one that still probably doesn’t deserve what he gets in the show—which is kidnapped by drug traffickers and forced to design and renovate their massive, tacky homes. The A.V. Club talked to Forte about his own design aesthetic prior to the Quibi launch, as well as the future of the MacGruber streaming show, and his delightful new puppy.

The A.V. Club: Prior to Flipped, how familiar were you with the home renovation genre?

Will Forte: I had such little knowledge

Easy to learn, Easy to use:

The most important aspect to consider when deciding on which cabinet design software to purchase is whether or not you will be able to actually use it. If not you will have wasted your time & money. With its intuitive interface, Cabinet Planner is considered to be the easiest program around in respect to its low learning curve. Time after time the question comes up, “Will I still be able to access the job(s) I created with the free trial”. The answer is yes, of course.
