About the Show – Decor + Design Show

Event Details

COVID-19 Update

After many weeks of monitoring the constantly evolving situation around COVID-19 and the government’s response, as well as talking to our exhibitors and partners, we have made the decision to reschedule Decor + Design and the Australian International Furniture Fair (AIFF), originally set to take place on 16 – 19 July 2020. The success and safety of our exhibitors, visitors and partners has always been our priority and this will continue to be the case.

We believe strongly that a new date is the safest option for all concerned considering the unprecedented rules regarding social distancing and travel restrictions that are now in place. With this in mind, Decor + Design and AIFF will be rescheduled to later this year.

New dates will be announced once confirmed.

Design Decor & Disha | An Indian Design & Decor Blog

In today’s post on our Indian Art form series, I’m gonna talk about the art of paper cutting or better known as Sanjhi. Like the name itself suggests Sanjhi or paper cutting art is an art of paper cutting. Origin:
Sanjhi is practised in Mathura and Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh in India. Though the paper cutting work is done all across the world, Sanjhi is little different. Sanjhi is said to have originated around 400-500 years ago in the 16th or 17th century. So like all the other Indian Artforms I have shared here previously, this art form is also very ancient. Some craftsmen believe that Sanjhi word is derived from Saanjh or Shaam which means dusk,

3 Designers Reveal the Home Decor Items Worth Splurging On

In partnership with New York School of Interior Design

Any savvy shopper knows that your space doesn’t have to be filled with expensive items to look expensive. However, there are some home decor categories where the splurge is well worth it. A nice design piece can set the look, feel, and tone of a room, adding substance and detail that you can both see and feel and improving your overall mood. But how do you know when to spend vs when to save?

To answer that, we turned to some of the sharpest design eyes we know: alumni from New York School of Interior Design (NYSID). Offering everything from traditional undergraduate and graduate degrees to professional certifications, NYSID is home to some of the brightest minds in the industry. Design History: Brutalist Home Decor

Jeni Sandberg is a dealer, appraiser and consultant in 20th century design. She has worked in museums, was a Senior Specialist at Christie’s, and also appears on WGBH’s Antiques Roadshow. She writes about fun objects on her blog. In this series, she will explore the history of decorative objects.

Metallics are having a moment in contemporary home decor, so it makes sense that bold Brutalist designs are making a comeback. Once the toast of the 1960s and ‘70s, Brutalism’s positively post-apocalyptic look found its way into everything from architecture to jewelry and lent texture and edge to homes of the period through distinctive metalwork wall sculptures and light fixtures. Today Brutalist works make perfect high-impact, of-the-moment statement pieces, and collectors are snapping up wall sculptures and chandeliers to add a little edge to their own abodes.
