Francesc Zamora Mola’s second installment of his “150 Best” series, “150 Best All New House Ideas” (Harper Design; $29.99; 480 pages), takes you inside the walls of single-family homes to see the latest in home construction and interior design. The homes range from tiny houses to multistory mansions and showcase modern design, technology and even energy efficiency. Zamora Mola studied architecture in Spain and San Francisco, where he used his design skills with architecture firms, and now writes about architecture and design.

 

“David Adjaye — Works 2007-2015: Houses, Pavilions, Installations, Buildings”

If the work of Ghanian-British architect David Adjaye isn’t on your radar, it should be. With offices in Ghana, London and New York, he and his firm are constantly working on projects on three continents, merging architecture, culture and local history on each site. His new book — “David Adjaye — Works 2007-2015: Houses, Pavilions, Installations, Buildings” (Thames & Hudson; $90; 300 pages) — encompasses 35 remarkable projects and goes on sale Oct. 18. His designs range from the Moscow School of Management Kolkovo to the Gwangju River Reading Room in South Korea to the Sugar Hill affordable housing project in north Harlem — each is completely unique and an architectural marvel. Coincidentally, an Adjaye project is underway right now in Houston: the Moody Center for Student Life and Opportunity on the Rice University Campus, set to open in 2023.

 

“Kerry Hill Architects: Works and Projects”

Australian architect Kerry Hill died in 2018 at the age of 75, but the architecture studio he opened in Singapore in 1979 and his vision for pioneering design lives on. A new book, “Kerry Hill Architects: Works and Projects” (Thames & Hudson; $95; 440 pages), covers 50 of the firm’s projects from 1992 to the present, focusing mostly on more recent works. The book is an architectural trip around Asia but includes stops in Europe, Australia, the Middle East and the Maldives. With gorgeous color photography and architectural sketches, you’ll see the attention to detail in everything from hotels to homes, libraries, civic centers, public buildings and wineries.

 

“The Draper Touch: The High Life and High Style of Dorothy Draper”

Enthusiasts of both interior design and American history may want to take another look at Carleton Varney’s updated version of the biography of his mentor, “The Draper Touch: The High Life and High Style of Dorothy Draper” (Shannongrove Press; $100; 368 pages). Varney learned everything he needed to know about design from Draper. He bought and ran the company for nearly 60 years before his death in mid-July. This updated edition includes interviews with a variety of Draper’s family members, including her youngest daughter, Penelope. Draper’s life story reads like a combination of “Bridgerton” and “The Gilded Age” TV series, with a good deal of color and gossip woven in. In addition to a new introduction, every chapter is filled with new information on the woman dubbed the “duchess of decorating,” whose preference for color and pattern famously prompted her to exclaim, “Show me nothing that looks like gravy.”

 

“Together at the Table: Entertaining at Home With the Creators of Juliska”

Their philosophy isn’t that everything has to be fancy, but it does need to be intentional and well planned. The “things” you need aren’t just stuff to fill your cabinets, they’re tools for creating memories. “Together at the Table: Entertaining at Home With the Creators of Juliska” (Abrams; $50; 240 pages) shows how to create floral arrangements, set a table, mix interesting things together and even offers recipes.
