House Beautiful Renovates an 11,000 sq. ft. Home in Atlanta, GA

House Beautiful Renovates an 11,000 sq. ft. Home in Atlanta, GA

For the fifth year anniversary of House Beautiful’s Whole Home (where we tap designers and our favorite brands to build a home from the ground up), we are back in the Buckhead area of Atlanta, GA, partnering with Ladisic Fine Homes and architectural firm Pak Heydt & Associates, to breathe new life into a historic Chastain Park Tudor.

This is House Beautiful’s first time renovating an existing property for our annual Whole Home build, which feels especially meaningful in today’s limited housing market where buyers are choosing location over perhaps their first choice home. Notable design talent from around the country will reimagine each room of this two-story family home, featuring over 11,000 square feet of custom-built design ideas, a multitude of entertaining spaces—both indoors and out—and areas dedicated to living better at home: from designated work spaces to rooms that are all about kicking your feet up. The renovation will appear in the December/January Makeover Issue of House Beautiful and on, hitting newsstands December 6 and debuting the second season of it’s video series, Blank Slate, which highlights each rooms design journey from white walls to fully designed and inspired spaces.

Outdoor Kitchen & Patio for Frontgate

In a special partnership with retail brand Frontgate, Ashley Gilbreath will bring her Southern sensibility to the expansive outdoor spaces: a covered porch, custom pool with spa jacuzzi, intimate fire pit and a well-appointed outdoor kitchen.

Bedroom + Hotel Suite

Upstairs, Brynn Olson imagines two separate bedroom suites as soothing retreats packed with creature comforts – one features a soaring window to the lush landscaping, the second draws on luxe inspiration from her favorite hotels.

Introvert Escape

Recognizing the need for a homeowner (or guest!) to disconnect, designer DuVäl Reynolds is creating a cozy introvert’s escape complete with a hidden room that will transport you from the daily grind to total Zen – even if it’s just for a moment.

Entryway & Dining Room

Designer Jonathan Savage creates a truly multitasking space that functions both as a formal dining room for Sunday suppers, and as a quiet library for getting lost in a great book.

Media Room

Keia McSwain designs the family’s media room with game space for reconnecting with each other and plush seating for streaming movies on the big screen well into the evening hours. It’s built for every age group in the house, equipped with a kitchen prepped for making popcorn and a wet bar for age appropriate cocktail hours.

Tweens Room for Crate & Barrel

Design super star Leanne Ford showcases her new line with Crate & Barrel. A two room suite gives space for the study area to double as a slumber party room, while the dedicated sleeping quarters offer a grown-up design sensibility that feels timeless.

Primary Suite Closets

Two custom-built walk-in closets from designer Lisa Adams—formerly of Bravo’s Million Dollar Closet—offer thoughtful storage solutions for keeping your wardrobe and accessories easily accessible.

Primary Suite

The generously appointed Primary Suite stands as a separate wing of the home. Designed by Atlanta-based Mark Williams and Niki Papadopoulos, the space is complete with sleeping quarters, a sitting room overlooking the yard, along with a breakfast bar, two bathrooms and two walk-in closets.

Whittney Parkinson brings her traditional design approach to the next-level with kitchen and entertaining spaces packed with technology and smart organizational ideas. The oversized eat-in kitchen sits adjacent to the walk-in scullery and pantry, plus a large wine room to protect your treasured vintages.

Family Room

Zoë Feldman’s modern interpretation of traditional design principles comes to life in the spacious sitting room between the kitchen and the covered porch – making it perfect for gathering after dinner guests or serving as a transitional indoor/outdoor space for lingering summer nights.
