Yacht Exterior Designer – Winch Design


We are looking for an experienced Yacht Exterior Designer to join our talented team, to help us design and deliver our exceptional yacht projects. This is a new role within our Yachts and Aviation design team, reporting into our Associate, Yacht Exterior Design. The role will be primarily focused on yacht exterior design, and will be heavily involved with 3d modelling, but will also be required to assist with yacht interior design as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the team in delivering client projects from concept stage, through the detailed design stage to completion in accordance with the client’s brief and within the time scales given
  • Work and assist on multiple projects at one time
  • Work collaboratively with external contractors/suppliers
  • Ensure thorough checking and accuracy of deliverables and record documentation
  • Prepare for regular project team meetings pertaining to project tasks, deliverables, and milestones
  • Prepare, develop and edit drawings and project models
  • Contact suppliers and request all relevant information in relation to new specifications or designs to suit the project in hand
  • Creatively contribute/produce new ideas for projects alongside the team
  • Help the rest of the team upskill on software packages
  • Work to own initiative, providing supervision and leadership to less experienced team members
  • Promote use of technologies to capture efficiencies and advancements

 Key Skills and Experience

  • BA Degree or equivalent in Yacht or Transport Design
  • At least 4 years’ experience delivering complex, luxury, Yacht projects
  • Expert in Rhino, AutoCAD, InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Demonstrable contribution to in-build or completed yacht exterior projects, preferably with European builders
  • Strong demonstrable communication style and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to influence and negotiate both internally and externally Team-spirited with a positive outlook
  • Flexible approach to work and open towards new ways of working
  • Strong design sensibilities
  • High levels of creativity, imagination, vision and enthusiasm to produce distinctive solutions
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically under pressure and strict deadlines, including the ability to juggle multiple tasks
  • Hand-drawing and physical modelling skills
  • Positive and enthusiastic approach
  • Proficiency with reading and evaluating drawings, furniture and space planning concepts

 Remuneration and benefits

  • Competitive salary available depending on level of experience
  • Hours 9:30am – 5:30pm – Monday to Friday

Interview process

Interviews will commence in early February  with a view to the role commencing in March/April 2020. There will be a minimum of 2 stages to the interview process.
